Ambition
I walk through the depths of a brightening light
that is my future. Like a mother with a baby
as it is nurtured, I hold on to this like it is my very life.
I think twice about my decisions as I give myself
a precise plan for my life. I’m like a kite;
I look highly of myself and walk hard toward the night
and day. I dress exquisitely to show that I act my own way.
Not like how everyone else wants to act as if mannequins
at a store they all look the same as I stare left and right
while walking through the door. They all look at me and
already I can see their laughter through the eyes like
I was looking for the pictures in a game of ISPY.
But I keep walking cause I can tell these people
is different-; they tie-dye. I can tell I’m an outsider
but I never wanted to be inside. And this was never
a decision that I could decide. Cause I care about many things
but I don’t care what y'all think cause I'll never want to be isolated
in a circle like free skate in a rink. So I’m going to stay
in my own lane and just keep on walking; go ahead keep
on murmuring, keep on talking. I will sit in my seat and wait
to learn and see in a couple of years how the tables have turned.
Don’t be concerned about me; like a fire in a house that burned,
I’ll now keep my quiet and my silence as the teacher has returned.
