Ars Poetica
In my experience words are easy to control.
They always do your bidding and you don't face a toll.
Each poet and author gets rewards and a perk,
while the words never get credit for their work.
But when I madly scratch my pen on a paper,
I'm a master of words; a word shift-shaper.
Manipulating the words as I go along,
it matter not what I write - even if it is wrong.
As long as some similes are woven together,
my credit as a poet is strong as leather.
People see and hear exactly what they want to,
so no matter what you write it will end up askew.
Also, let's face it. People are very naive,
so blatant lie or not they will still believe.
Some rhyming and rhythm, a stanza or two,
and anyone's a poet--even me, even you.
So let us give credit where credit is due;
the words are the hard workers, not me and you.
