Hourglass

No one knows for sure if there's something beyond death.

Something to be counted on after wordly strife.

Yet people overlook the weight of every breath,

and disregard the divine beauty of each life.

Have you ever taken time to cherish the sky

as it melts from shades of blue into fiery red?

Or been thankful for scratches and tears that you cry?

Perhaps not, though you should, for they mean you're not dead.

And remember, life is not an eternal flame--

It's an hourglass that can quickly run dry.

So revel in each facet of this lifelong game

and greet the light of each new day that meets your eye.

The reaper soon approaches with a deadly kiss.

When the hourglass is dry, what is it you'll miss?
