A Response to Temporary Friendship

~Corinne Evans

I still think of you every now and then,

despite the fact that we no longer speak.

There is a part of you that lives forever in me,

Even years after we knew each other.

I replicate the way you tied your shoes,

The music that you listened to--

I still reference our jokes,

The ones where I made fun of you--

I think I still have your number saved in my phone--

The long summer noons that twilight into dusk filled with laughs,

Hair wet from swimming,

Laying down on the carpet of your living room,

Shouting at the screen of your TV--

Whispers of secrets into the dead of night,

For hours on end.
