Lean and Mean

by Dominic Mroszczak

Locked, frozen in time

Reliving the same brutal instance

A photo in the paper, a picture on the wall---

In the eyes of the one man, dread and courage.

He recoils, his body is fluid, but not impermeable.

Raises his arm, tries to stop the inevitable concussion.

In a moment he will see nothing and feel nothing, it will be over

In the eyes of the other man, victory shines bright as a 1000 suns

He charges forward, the primal force of man, his spirit is ablaze with glory---

His body is a chain, ready to snap, unbearable pressure concentrated, aimed---

Precision in his mind, glory in his heart, perfectly synchronized, They deliver war

Right to the jaw.
